    Partnerships for South-South Cooperation

WFP Centre of Excellence for Rural Transformation (WFP China COE) highly values the innovative partnerships with all enthusiastic collaborators. An inclusive, enlightening and innovative partnership is the key factor in our dedication to meet the Zero Hunger Challenge.

Window Ministry- Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA)

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA) of the People's Republic of China is the fundamental strategic alliance of and the sponsor for WFP China COE. Their solid partnership sustains WFP China COE's engagement for South-South Cooperation at a policy, institutional and grass-root level on food security, nutrition improvement and poverty reduction for rural transformation.

Strategic Cooperation with Line Ministries on China COE's Priorities

WFP China COE forges partnership with line ministries in China at strategic levels to guide the South-South Cooperation engagement in the Four Thematic Areas.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA) leads the comprehensive cooperation in Value Chain Development for Smallholders. The National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration (NAFRA) activates the collaborative framework in Post-harvest Loss Management and Food Systems. The Ministry of Emergency Management (MEM) synergizes with WFP for Disaster Risk Reduction against weather extremes, and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) orients efforts to enhance smallholders' Climate Change Resilience. The solid tie with China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration (CICG) lays an appreciable foundation for cooperation on the Innovative Poverty Alleviation Initiative.

Collaborative Linkage with Governmental Specialized Agencies

WFP China COE builds strong linkages with governmental specialized agencies to seek concerted efforts on South-South Cooperation. The Centre of International Cooperation Service (CICOS) and Foreign Economic Cooperation Centre (FECC) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs are reliable technical supporters of WFP China COE on trainings, capacity building and technical cooperation programs. The National Disaster Reduction Centre of China (NDRCC) joins WFP China COE's endeavour to share China's management on disasters. The National Centre for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation (NCSC) joins together with us to enhance our efforts on climate change resilience.

Active Engagement with Academies, Universities and Think Tanks

Partnering with Chinese academies, research institutes and think tanks impact significantly on WFP China COE's technical cooperation.

    · The commitment by the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Science (CATAS) emphasizes technical support in tropical agriculture cooperation.

    · With Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University (NWAFU), we focus on vocational farmer training, water-saving irrigation, digital technology and climate change.

    · For grain storage, national reserve and food systems transformation, Henan University of Technology (HAUT) stands among her peers to support WFP China COE.

    · The cooperation with Nanjing Agricultural University (NAU) highlights rural e-commerce development and poverty reduction.

    · Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University (FAFU) is globally renowned for its multi-purposeful Juncao technology, of which WFP China COE is working with needed countries for ecological restoration to improve smallholders' wellbeing.

    · Think tanks such as AliResearch have been collaborating with WFP China COE on rural digitalized development and smallholder entrepreneurship fostered through e-commerce.

    · Nanjing University of Finance and Economics (NUFE) is willing to share expertise on food economy, food supply chain and food policy in China.

Knowledge Partnership with China Internet Information Center (CIIC)

The China Internet Information Center (CIIC) is the critical technical partner supporting the South-South Cooperation Knowledge Sharing Platform and the Cloud School. CIIC, with its professional coverage and technical strength, is now facilitating WFP China COE's knowledge management in an all-dimensional approach.

We very much welcome more partners to join us on knowledge sharing for South-South Cooperation; especially under the COVID-19 pandemic, remote support and digitalized tools will be further enhanced for South-South Cooperation to reach as many people as we can.

Partnering with UN Agencies -- UNOSSC and RBAs

WFP China COE's South-South Cooperation efforts are cemented by an open and mutual learning partnership with peer UN agencies.

The collaboration with the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) is dedicated to fortifying synergy with WFP China COE in advancing rural youth entrepreneurship and women's empowerment, as well as advocating for China-Africa Value Chain development.

Joint efforts among RBAs as FAO and IFAD and ESCAP-CSAM have been focusing on leveraging China’s policy reference, technical solutions and pragmatic practice on food systems transformation, food security and nutrition improvement, and showcasing China’s rural development empowered by digital technology.

WFP China COE will continue to work with all partners and explore wider partnering networks, sharing more knowledge, solutions and experience with other developing countries through South-South Cooperation.
